Update

So, I really need to find a way to get in the habit of getting on here once a week, or at least more often then I do! :) But here is an update!

Here is my lovely name tag! I LOVE MY NEW JOB! Ya there are times where it is slow and boring, and i'm not sure what to do, but I love it! I felt so welcomed in, unlike my previous job! I can tell that they really appreciate their employees! Everyone has been really nice and are eager to get to know me. I love the little incentives that have happened, like wearing this name tag got me a $10 gift card to iTunes. One of the doctors one day came up to the front and told us all to order from JCW'S, because he was buying lunch for everyone. Little things like that happen every once in a while, and it just keeps you knowing that you are appreciated for working for them. I love it! Not even because of that, but because of what I do. I went to school for this and I'm actually doing it. I get to see all the cute little kids come in. I get to see all the interesting names parents name their kids..haha! :)

Other than finally enjoying what I do, i'm still just working on getting everything ready for my ward Christmas party! Picture this....Live band, catered food from Magelby's, karaoke, dancing, Santa Claus, Photo booth, Ugly sweater contest....how can a party like that not be AWESOME!! :) I'm way excited for this! I'm such a good planner! HA!

That's my life right now! So you can say i'm doing pretty good!

Till next time!

New job!

Hey there! I've been waiting to post on here till I got the good news. I HAVE A NEW JOB! Oh I'm so seriously thrilled to be getting out of the place I'm at. Don't get me wrong, it was a really good learning experience....from how not to run an office and more of the system of internal medicine.

But now...i'm going to the complete opposite! My new job is at Alpine Pediatrics! Oh it's going to be so fun! See all the cute(sick) kids come in and be in a more friendly, welcoming atmosphere! I know a lot of people at this place. Unfortunately none of them work at the office i'm at. Not that I know of anyway. They have three locations. Pleasant Grove, Lehi, and Saratoga Springs. I've been to both PG and Lehi for interviews.....but I will be working in the Saratoga Springs office. I will be working 4 days a week, but luckily be considered full time and get benefits. I feel so good about this job that I think I could be here for a long time!

I haven't been this happy for a LONG time! I've finished my schooling and I've got my career! I have an amazing support group from my family and friends. Thank you all for helping me along the way!

Now I just need to get through these few activities i'm in charge of planning and I can enjoy the holidays and relax!

October 22, 2011

Well I've finally found time to get on here! Now I just need to update you on what has been going on.

I finished my externship a week ago, so now I'm officially employed. Well I'm not exactly official yet...they haven't had me sign any papers or anything. I just clock in and hope that I'm actually getting paid. I'm still at my extern site. I haven't been able to find anywhere else to work. But don't worry I'm still looking!! I'm having a hard time working at this place. Dad gave me a challenge to find one good/happy thing about this place each day. Well just this last Friday...there were two good things. One, I learned how to take care of someone that is diabetic that is really low on sugar(that was quite an experience!) and the second happy thing was that it was the weekend. ;) Yup that's how bad it is there! I just sit there scan my files and mind my own business. So I'm just hoping and praying that something will come up that has nothing to do with where I am at now.

Other than working I've just been busy with my ward calling! They've informed me that I'm being "phased out" with my new co-chair that they have given me. So I have till after our Christmas party to be the Activities Chair. I've loved this calling, though it has been stressful at times I've never felt more involved in any ward I've been. Who knows what is next in line for me, but I'm excited to see what happens.

I was finally able to get some time to go up the canyon today to see the fall colors! I LOVE FALL! It's my favorite season! If you want to see pictures go to my other blog: jkiddsdigital.blogspot.com! Here is a sneak peak:

Graduation Speech

Well here is my preview to you all of what I will be saying tomorrow at my Graduation! Pictures to come! ;) AHHH! I'm nervous!

Hello everyone! Well, we've gone class after class, test after test, but we still have so much more to learn. Dr. Seuss once said, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go.” As for me, this is not the first college I’ve attended, maybe that is the way with some of you, but I couldn’t seem to find the right place. Or maybe I just could figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up. When I finally figured out that I wanted to work in the medical field it was time to search for the right school. I was never a big fan of school so I didn’t want to have to take forever to finish up my degree. I looked at so many different tech schools and smaller colleges, but all they offered was MA programs, and there was no way I was going to go learn how to poke somebody! Then I came across AmeriTech. The only school with a program with exactly what I wanted to be. From then on it all fell into place. Then anatomy started. I was so excited to learn all that information, but at the same time so scared that I wasn’t going to be able to pass that class. I’ve never been in a class so fast paced before and it was anatomy of all classes. It was such a new experience for me and I was more determined to not fail and to learn all that I could. I started loving school so much more. I was excited to go every day! Once I got into my core classes it was all so less stressful! I made more friends and we all just helped each other along the way.

One of the best parts of coming to AmeriTech was that they helped me love learning. They taught me to the want to continue learning. One of the other best parts of coming to AmeriTech was that you could get really personable with the teachers. With small classes you felt more involved with the class instead of just being there in the class. The teachers were there to help me and I’ve never had that at any other college, and not to mention that the HOS program had a maximum of 4 people. I loved the smaller classes though, we had more fun and were able to ask more questions.

Being in my program I was able to understand my surroundings when I went to doctor’s offices and hospitals. It was so much more interesting when I knew what was going on, and what they were talking about. When my nephew fractured his elbow, I was more excited to go to the hospital to watch everything and everyone, than I was worried for him. I loved going into offices and hospitals just observe how they run things, and to think how one day I would be doing that too! And now I am! I’m on my extern right now and it’s a lot more exciting to be there then to be learning about it in school. I’m so excited to be out in the real world and learning more than what they can teach me here at AmeriTech.

This is best school I’ve ever gone to! I loved every minute of it, even the worrying, the stress, the tests, the homework, the books, the reading, the outdated health videos, everything, I loved it all. It has been the best accomplishment I’ve done so far, and I thank you all so much for helping me do that.

The mission statement says, “Through quality training and education, the mission of AmeriTech College is to prepare graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills, and dispositions to become competent professionals in their chosen field of study.” I believe we have been trained and educated well. Now we just need to go out there and prove that we have.

Someone once said, “Graduation is only a concept. In real life every day you graduate. Graduation is a process that goes on until the last day of your life. If you can grasp that, you'll make a difference.”

Thank you! And Congratulations to you all!!

September 11, 2011

Well first, Happy Birthday to me! :) I had a great 24th birthday! I didn't have to go to school and I didn't have to work, so it was just a party day for me! My parents kindly took me out to lunch at Cafe Rio and to see the new Pirates movie. (which was good by the way!) After that we came home and I got stuff ready for a fire that I had with some friends. Just yesterday I went out with some of my girlfriends and they took me out to Olive Garden and to see the movie Midnight in Paris. It was a lot of fun! Do I feel older/different? Nope! Just the same! Here are some pics from the fire!

Next, I started my externship on friday and it was great! I'm so excited to finally be out working in the field instead of just learning about it! It's at a Internal Medicine Physician's office. It will be quite interesting to learn all the stuff from actually being there point of view. The staff seems really nice and they all seem to have a lot of fun with one another. I work with two daughters of one of the doctors, so that is going to be interesting, but they seem nice! I will have to tell you more as times goes on! Hopefully I will be done by the end of October.

Also, I GRADUATE ON WEDNESDAY!!! And I have to speak at my graduation! How nervous am I??? I still have no idea what i'm going to say! Any advice would be good! I have to speak for 5 min and just about my experience and what i learned from it!

Well that is all for now! I will let you know how graduation goes!

Love you all! :)

July 24, 2011

Hey there!

So somehow I really need to get into the habit of writing on here each week! That way I won't have so much to tell in one post! Oh well, just a warning this might be a bit lengthy...

To start...school is getting closer to the end! Graduation date? SEPTEMBER 14TH!!!! What an awesome late birthday present for me! haha I can't wait! I will be done with classes around the 23rd of August and then I go right into my externship. I don't know where I'm going to be going yet, but I think it will be at an allergist in American Fork or who knows where! I won't really find out for a couple of weeks or so! As for the classes, they are going great! I have longer days on Wednesdays and Thursdays now, I'm taking an Employment Strategies class. We are working on our resume's right now. It's a really easy class, all we really are doing is just learning to be better employee's. I just get butterflies in my stomach thinking how close I am to the end!
It's quite funny when I tell people that I'm graduating soon, and then they ask me, "What are you going to do next?"....my reply?...."Um..work." Haha What else am I going to do? The reason I'm going to school is to get a job! :) It makes me laugh.

This past month has been so crazy for me! I've had my sisters and their kids in town and it has just been so fun to hang out with them! It was the first time ever meeting one of my nieces and I just love her to pieces, and miss her a whole bunch all ready! I sure wish you all didn't live so far away! We had so much fun with our family reunions and our girls day! I sure do love my family and love every moment I get to spend time with them! I can't wait till next year when my brother from Hong Kong gets to come and visit!

I've been doing a lot on my weekends, which has been awesome! I'm very tired and exhausted when Sunday and Monday comes, but it's all so worth it! Lets see what have I done? Gone to the opening showing of Harry Potter, the opening showing of Captain America (these movies have both started at 12:00 a.m.), hiked up horsetail falls, gone to the Days of 47 Rodeo, going to be hiking horsetail falls again next Friday, full weekend of events for my YSA stake this weekend(carnival, dances, comedy shows, workshops, firesides, 5k, etc). I tell ya this month has been quite crazy for me!

Here are some pics of all that has gone on!
Me and Sarah! We became good buds! Oh I just love her!

My CUTE nieces! Sarah loved giving Kayda(and everyone) hugs!

Girls Day in Park City!! Riding our way up to go down the Alpine Slide! So fun!

Just waiting my turn to go down!

So, of course I went to see the midnight showing of Harry Potter, and of course I didn't dress up, but that doesn't mean i can't get pics with others who did right? This is a Death Eater. He was the best dressed up as one! It was so fun to watch everyone that dressed up, being a people watcher that i am. There were others like Sirius Black, Moaning Mertle, Bellatrix Lestrange, Tonks and Lupin, house elves, and of course all the Hogwarts students.

Me and my friend Broc went and hiked up to this waterfall. This is just the top part of the big waterfall there. To the right of this picture I had to climb down to get to this spot to take this picture, I had a bit of an accident and slipped half of the way down. I have the marks to prove it...look below...

This picture doesn't do justice. If it was a movie, you could see that my legs were shaking like crazy! You can see how dirty I am, but if you saw my legs now, there are cuts all over, bruises on my legs, arms, back and butt, cuts on my arms...it was quite a fall. :) But no worries I got up and climbed back out of there and back down the mountain.

This is at the Days of 47 rodeo! So cool! I think this will be definitely one of my annual rodeo's i'm going to! :)

This guy is from Lehi and he was the only bull rider that night that stayed on the bull for the full 8 seconds! Bad night for the cowboys but good for the bulls! Such a fun rodeo!

Well there you have it in a summary of my last month! Hope you enjoyed it! Until next time!

Wyoming

Howdy Y'all!

Well here is two weeks in a row! It's a darn good thing I have something to say! ;) haha Just kidding! Well my ward went to Wyoming this past weekend to spend some time up in Star Valley. We were going to go up and run the snake river...but we cancelled that at last minute. Holy cow that water was moving fast! We drove past it as we were going up to Jackson Hole, and that river was HUGE!! Sooooo much water and parts of trees were floating down and it was MUDDY!! We did see some people rafting down it, crazy people! The waves were ginormous! But let's just hope they all got there safely!
So we just hung out at some property we stayed at. Played some volleyball, played in the pond(or in my case, get thrown into the pond). We spent a day in Jackson Hole and then went and saw the Bar J Wranglers! They are hilarious! I just love them! If any of you get a chance to see them do it! It's worth it!
Then we did a little service project for the guy that owns the property we were at and came home! It was a lot of fun!
Now it's time to go back to school and have my sisters come in to town!! I so can't wait to see them and their kids!! We are going to have a blast while you are all here! I've missed you all so dearly! See you soon!!

June 19, 2011

HEY!!

So I guess I need to be more diligent in posting on here. My life really isn't that exciting. I don't have kids to talk about or husbands/wives to talk about. My life is usually the same thing each week. Maybe a bit differences going on on the weekends. But Josh told me that I needed to put something on here so here I go!

I guess I can start with that I love this time of year! Why? Because of all the RODEOS of course!! I just can't get enough of them! I don't know why I love them so, but I just do! I guess it all started with watching Bull Riding with Dad on Sunday's! That was one of my favorite things to do Sunday nights with my Daddy! We haven't done that in a LONG time, but I won't ever forget it! I guess I got to a point of wanting to watch the bull riding in real life. I'm lucky to have so many rodeos around me that i can go to. I've got the system down to an art! When to buy tickets, where to sit, what rodeos aren't as good as the others, parking, what to wear...ya know all of it! :) I am most excited this year because I've always wanted to go to the Days of 47 rodeo, cause I hear it is awesome, and I actually get to go this year! I got good seats at a good price! I'm just so excited! :)

My rodeo buddies for the first rodeo of the season! Nicole has never been to a rodeo before, so her mom(though hating rodeo's) brought her along with us so she could experience a rodeo with someone who likes them i guess! :) It was a lot of fun to have them with me!

As of school, things are going smoothly! I'm learning so much! Much more then I ever thought I would be learning. I'm very proud of myself of how much I'm remembering and how well i'm doing! I've gotten all A's or A-'s and only one B+(which one percentage away would have been an A-)! Right now I've been learning in depth about coding. For those of you who don't know, coding is a type of billing I guess you could say. Every procedure you do at a hospital or doctor's office will have a code(set of numbers) to go with it so the insurance company will know what you are charging for. But it gets tricky..cause you have to use the right code or the insurance company will reject the claim. So we have been going through each body system learning how to code everything! There are different ways to code, and you have modifiers to make them more specific and this and that...it gets to be a lot to put in one's mind, but surprisingly I'm doing pretty well! I believe I will still be learning coding till July sometime, then I have a few more classes to take till I go on my extern(intern) in October! It is coming so fast! I'm a little nervous but also can't wait to be done with school and have graduated from college!

I love the feeling of doing something with my life! I was afraid at first when I was working at the Credit Union that that would be all that I would do. I could have worked my way up in the Credit Union and become manager and whatnot, but I just didn't feel like I was really doing anything. I thought about going on a mission, but that just didn't feel right for me. Then I thought about going back to school, just for the heck of it to do something then just sit at work. I hope now that when I'm done with school and start working full time again I wont have the feeling come back. Maybe my next step after graduating from college is finding a husband! :) Ya? haha That will be another accomplishment. Who knows! I just love this feeling of having a goal in mind that I know I can achieve and I'm working hard to reach it! I'm actually doing something with my life then not doing anything at all!

Wow...so I don't really know where that came from but there you go. I just let my fingers go till their hearts content! Hope you all didn't fall asleep reading this(if you're still reading it). I'm going to try my hardest to put something on here each week, even if it is only a couple of lines! Just to let you all know that I'm still here and doing alright!

Until next time!

California!

Well I have had a very relaxing 2 weeks! Wednesday I'm back to school! It went by so fast! Mine and my Mom's trip to Cali was so fun! I wish it had lasted longer! Our hotel was right next to the beach. We were 5 min away from Dana Harbor! That place was so cool! We went shopping there and went on a whale watching boat! My first time going on a boat out on the ocean! I loved it! We went 7 miles out from the shore and were looking for whales, but all we found were dolphins!! And lots of them! There were probably about 100 of them! It was the coolest thing I have ever seen! It has been something I have wanted to do ever since I was little.

We were then able to cross one more thing off my bucket list...see the Hollywood sign up close! And man did we get close! The view point was a bit farther away then where we were driving. It was awesome!!
We had such pretty sunsets and great times on the beach! The long car rides and the horrible smell in the casino(we had to endure this in order to see The Lion King in Vegas!) was so worth it! I had such a great time, and I've had a great time to relax and do absolutely nothing! :) I guess it's time for me to get back to school! Here are some more pics!

April 17, 2011

Well....my life still is basically the same as last time! I'm coming up to my finals then I get a two week break! Me and my Mom are going to take a trip to CALIFORNIA for a few days! I'm so so so excited! I can't even wait! This trip will do me all sorts of good! ;) I need to get away and what a better way to get away but to go to the BEACH! I'm way excited as well because we are going to go and find the Hollywood sign! I've been wanting to go there since I was little! I guess you can say that I will be crossing this off my bucket list! ;) We are also going to see Lion King in Las Vegas! I saw it in Broadway in New York and I absolutely loved it! I can't wait to see it again!

School is going good. I've decided that I don't want to work in a dentist office. Haha! We have been working with charting and learning all about the dentistry office work. I. hate. charting. :) I just cant get it right and i hate doing something that I cant understand. This is finally something that my friend Ruth(in my class) is better at then me! She likes to remind me at times too! haha I think i'm just going to stick with a hospital or a doctor's office. :) Who knows...maybe I might actually find an eye doctor that I can work for. Who knows where my road is going to take me. :) But I'm sure excited to find out!!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A HAPPY EASTER!!! LOVE YOU ALL!

March 23, 2011

Wow..

Wow...it sure has been a really long time since i posted on here! Sorry about that! I guess I have just been busy busy with school since January. Which I have!

School has been really good! I've all ready gone through one term...4 more to go! It went by so fast it was crazy! I learned so much in such a little time. I didn't think I could do it but I passed all of my classes with flying colors! Not all A's....2 out of 3 is just fine with me! I got a B+ in my Anatomy class..one percentage away from an A-. So i did pretty good. Better then I though I would do! Doing those classes was a good experience for me and it's good to be back into school...now I just can't wait to be done! HA!! Right now my classes are pretty easy. I really only have one class, but we just work on different things all day long. I will have the same teacher for the rest of the time, and she is great! I love her! Right now we are working on getting our 10 key speed up, working in excel and getting comfortable with it, learning about all the paper work in an office(claims, insurance, billing, scheduling, etc). We also have been learning the computer program that all health care offices, except dental, uses. It's called Medisoft. It's really easy to use once you get the hang of it and know your way around.
Being the youngest out of 4 in my class...I guess you could say i'm more technological smart then the others. If that made sense. I know my way around the computer and programs, and the other ladies are usually asking me how do to something. It's quite hilarious at times. I don't mean to be faster at assignments then the others..it kind of just happens. :) There are times when we are doing problems with excel or our 10-key and they all ask me first what I got to make sure they have the same answer and then they will see if it's right. haha It just makes me laugh.

Other then school I don't really do a whole lot. I'm still the Activities Chair in my ward so I have lots of stuff to do with that...especially this coming summer to plan our big summer activity. Sometimes it can get pretty stressful....especially when me and my council plans something, but the bishopric will come to me and tell me how they want the activity done a certain way or that they have planned it doing it a different way then what we all ready planned. I just smile and nod my head and go along with it. Not much I can do, just be there to help with whatever they need. It gets quite annoying at times and I wonder why I'm even in the calling, but I get over it fast and move on. More things to plan! ;)

So that's been my life lately. I'm currently trying to get over my bronchitis that I happened to pick up after being so stressed from finals! Doesn't even surprise me though. I knew I was going to get sick after being so stressed. It happens every time! But hopefully I will be better in a few days! One can only hope I guess! :)

January 13, 2011

Well it's start of a new year and lots of changes have happened! First, I'm back to school full time! I'm going to AmeriTech. The degree i'm going into is Healthcare Office Specialist. In other words i will be doing management, insurance, billing and coding..stuff like that. I don't know what type of office i will be in, whatever doctors office will hire me I guess. :) I started classes yesterday, and boy are these coming weeks going to be stressful. I'm taking Anatomy/Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Therapeutic Communications. The first two classes are going to be a killer!!! Lots and lots to learn and memorize in such a little time! After the first term then i start all the computer classes and such so it will be smoother i believe.

Second, I no longer work at the credit union. I'm now employed by American Fork Fitness Center..once again. :) I only work there part time, so it's nice to be able to have time to do my homework and get other things done!

This year i believe will be a good year! I'm finally doing something worthwhile! I'm getting a degree and moving on to start my career. I'm sure hoping that 2011 will continue to be a good year for me! One can only hope right? :)
